GPStrix

GPStrix does not measure the temperature in the box. Here is what it does tell you.

If you move fruit, dairy, fish or medicines, you probably already have a temperature logger or a reefer controller. GPStrix does not replace it. It records where the truck was, when it stopped and whether the engine was running, and that is usually what you need once the logger shows a problem.

What GPStrix records

  • Position and every stop, with its start, end and length.
  • Ignition on and off, and engine-on time spent standing still.
  • Time inside each geofence: depots, distribution centres, customers.
  • A cut to the tracker's power, and a tracker that has stopped reporting.
  • On CAN-fitted trucks: fuel level, engine RPM and the outside air temperature the vehicle reports.

What it does not record

  • The temperature inside the box or trailer.
  • Whether the refrigeration unit is running.
  • Cargo door openings. The door signals an FMB150 reads from the CAN bus are the cab doors.
  • Any reading that would stand as a temperature record in an audit. Its temperature readings are engine coolant, engine oil and outside air, and none of them is the load.

An example written for this page, not a customer's case.

  1. 06:30

    The load is rejected

The distribution centre in Delhi refuses a consignment of paneer. The logger shows the box rising from 4 °C to 11 °C between 02:10 and 03:00.

  2. 06:40

    Replay 02:00 to 03:15

The track stops at a fuel station on NH 48 at 02:06 and moves again at 02:58.

  3. 06:42

Engine off for all 52 minutes

The stop report lists it as an engine-off stop. On a truck whose reefer runs off the vehicle's engine, that is the answer. On one with its own diesel unit, it rules the stop out and points you at the unit.

  4. 06:45

    It was flagged, too late

The stop was outside every geofence, so it is in the unauthorised-stoppage report, and the morning's inbox has it as "Long stop away from any site". Both arrive after the fact. The question is why nobody was told at 02:10.

The routine controls, set up once.

Engine off, at once
A rule on ignition-off for the reefer group sends the night supervisor an SMS or WhatsApp the moment a reefer truck's engine stops. Expect messages from the depot too; the alert is throttled per truck, so one vehicle cannot bury the rest.
Long stops, next morning
Stops outside every depot and customer geofence, in the unauthorised-stoppage report and in the inbox as findings.
Engine-off time
The stop report holds engine-off stops; the idling report holds engine-on standing time. They are kept apart because they mean different things for a reefer.
Waiting at the gate
How long each truck stood at each distribution centre, per day, from the geofence dwell report.
Delivery slots
A tracking link for the receiving store, with a time window matching the slot. It shows the truck approaching and stops working after the window.
Tampering
An alert when the tracker loses power, and the CAN activity report for a CAN connection that was pulled.
Long hauls
Continuous driving and night driving reports, per driver.

If you need temperature on the same screen

Tell us which logger or reefer controller you use and how it reports. We would rather say no than show you a temperature line we cannot back with a sensor we have tested.

Bring the last load that arrived warm.

If you have the logger file and the truck number, we can walk through the same replay with you in the demo, and show what GPStrix would have flagged that night.
