The Scorpio was due back at six on Sunday. It is Monday, nine in the morning.
Rental is the business of handing an expensive vehicle to someone you met an hour ago. GPStrix does not change that. It tells you where the vehicle is, how far it went, and whether it has left the area the agreement allows.

One hire, from handover to return.
Each report and alert named here exists today. Booking and contracts stay in your own system.
| Stage | What you want to know | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Handover | The reading the hire starts from. | The odometer report gives opening and closing readings per vehicle for a date range, from the tracker's own count or the vehicle's on CAN-fitted vehicles, with the GPS-measured distance beside it. Engine hours, for anything billed by running time. |
| On hire | Is it still where the agreement says it may go? | Draw the permitted area as a geofence: a state border, or a circle 150 km round the city. Leaving it is an event, and a rule sends it to the desk by email or Telegram. Overspeed alerts too, if the agreement mentions speed. |
| Quiet | Has someone unplugged the tracker? | A cut to the tracker's power raises an alert, and the vehicle shows up in the non-reporting vehicles report. |
| Overdue | Where is it now, and can it be stopped safely? | Live position, the trail and how old the last fix is. On vehicles with a relay fitted, the immobiliser, described below. |
| Return | What happened during the hire? | The trip report for the hire window, and overspeed and harsh-event detail when a customer disputes a charge. |
The immobiliser, used carefully.
Where the tracker has a relay wired into the starter or fuel circuit, the console can send it a command to stop the engine. That is a serious thing to do to a vehicle someone else is driving, so GPStrix makes it deliberate.
- Only roles you allow can send it. Anyone else is refused, and the refusal is logged.
- It asks a second time before anything leaves the browser.
- Every attempt is recorded with who sent it, when, and what the tracker answered, including the attempts that were refused.
Send it to a parked vehicle. Stopping an engine on the move takes away power steering and brake assist. The safe practice is to wait until the live map shows the vehicle stationary and the customer has not answered.
Once a vehicle is immobilised, any movement raises "Vehicle moved without authorisation". That is the alert for a car leaving on the back of a tow truck.
Chauffeured hire: a link for the guest.
For a Tempo Traveller or a cab with a driver, send the guest a tracking link for the pickup. It shows the vehicle coming, roughly how far away it is, and nothing else: not the driver's number, not the registration, not the speed. It stops working when the pickup window ends.
On a long tour the same link, with a window covering the whole trip, lets the agency that booked it see the group is moving without ringing the driver.

Not built
No booking calendar, contracts or deposits. GPStrix is the tracking side, and it can send events to your booking system by webhook.
No service schedule yet. Odometer and engine hours are there; a "service due" report is designed and not built, so it is not promised here.
Tell us how your fleet is hired out.
Self-drive cars, chauffeured travellers or goods carriers by the day: the setup differs. Tell us which, and whether your trackers have a relay fitted, and we will show you the parts that apply.
